From Riches to Rags Not Seeing The Forest For The Trees!
Since the creation of the first Shaguar, we've wrapped many hundreds of vehicles. Vehicle graphics have always been an important part of our overall business but they represented only 20% of our total sales. The larger part included showroom and point-of-sale graphics, window graphics and display graphics for new car dealerships.
The near collapse of the new car business in the current downturn dramatically impacted our core business. During the early part of this year our sales dropped by up to 70%. We scrambled to reposition ourselves looking for new markets and customers to replace the lost revenue. We also expanded our product offerings and reduced staff to try and compensate. Nothing seemed to be working... except vehicle graphics. Although we were not focused on promoting that part of our business, it kept creeping up. By April, we finally figured out that that's where the light at the end of the tunnel was coming from.
In May, we turned a significant part of our efforts to building the wrap business, and sure enough we recouped almost 50% of our lost sales revenue. In June we did even better closing the gap to almost 75%. And we started the month of July with an order book larger than our June sales for the first time in more than a year).
More importantly, back in May, still shell shocked by our early year cash flow crisis, we slashed our prices (and our profits) on wraps to try and grab as much business as we could. Our average wrap in May was $500. In Late May we realized that we were underselling our value and started moving prices up. Our June deliveries averaged $608 and our in-process orders now average more than $1000. Our latest batch of orders in design stage for July production are now averaging more than $1,400.
The summer is our slowest time of the year. August starts the fall season and the introduction of new models. We're going to need your help to meet the demand. Click next to see why.
